Nuphar lutea Sibth. & Sm.

Authors: Jarvis, Charlie;

Nuphar lutea Sibth. & Sm.

Abstract

Nymphaea lutea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 510. 1753. "Habitat in Europae littora sub dulci aqua." RCN: 3855. Lectotype (Jonsell & Jarvis in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 159. 1994): Herb. Linn. No. 218 (LAPP), see p. 171. Current name: Nuphar lutea (L.) Sibth. & Sm. (Nymphaeaceae). Note: Beal (in J. Elisha Mitchell Sci. Soc. 72: 323. 1956) indicated material associated with genus 673 in LINN as the type, but there are three sheets (673.1, 673.2 and 673.3) associated with this name. As they are evidently not part of a single gathering, Art. 9.15 does not apply, and Jonsell & Jarvis’ type choice appears to be the earliest.
