Abstract Physical education in Colombia became official in 1930. However, since the 19th century, there were sports practices, such as gymnastics, races and swimming. The Physical Education teacher programs began in 1925 in Bogotá, and along the 20th century, it was consolidated throughout the country, with more than 70 programs for Graduates in Physical Education and related careers, in public and private universities, in 2020. On average, Bachelor's degrees in Physical Education have 160 credits, most of them offered face-to-face. Teachers who want to join the public educational system, appear in competitions.
