Resumen Se presenta un análisis de la formación del profesorado de Educación Física en México, a través de diferentes factores que permiten conocer la situación histórica y legislativa, el acceso a las actividades docentes en educación primaria y secundaria, así como una revisión crítica de los objetivos de la enseñanza de Educación Física. La formación del educador físico parece ser un tema complejo en México, pero la realidad es que al egresar de una escuela normal o universidad, la gran mayoría tiene una inserción laboral como docente en el sistema educativo o como instructor/entrenador en clubes y organismos deportivos. Abstract An analysis of the training of Physical Education teachers in Mexico is presented, through different factors that allow us to know the historical and legislative situation, the access to teaching activities in primary and secondary education, as well as a critical review of the objectives of Physical Education teaching. The training of physical education teachers seems to be a complex issue in Mexico, but the reality is that upon graduating from a normal school or university, the vast majority have a job as teachers in the education system or as instructors/coaches in sports clubs and organizations.
