Mentha spicata Linnaeus var. viridis Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 576. 1753. RCN: 4200. Basionym of: Mentha viridis (L.) L. (1763). Lectotype (Tucker & al. in Taxon 29: 234. 1980): Herb. Clifford: 306, Mentha 1 (BM-000646003). Current name: Mentha spicata L. (Lamiaceae). Note: Homotypic with, and replaced by, M. spicata var. spicata which, as the autonym, has statutory priority.
