Ixia chinensis Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 36. 1753. "Habitat in India." RCN: 290. Lectotype (Goldblatt & Mabberley in Novon 15: 129. 2005): [icon] “Belam-canda-schularmani” in Rheede, Hort. Malab. 11: 73, t. 37. 1692. Current name: Belamcanda chinensis (L.) A. DC. (Iridaceae). Note: The correct name in Belamcanda is B. chinensis (L.) A. DC. However, if Belamcanda is subsumed within Iris, as favoured by Goldblatt & Mabberley (in Novon 15: 128-132. 2005), the correct name for Ixia chinensis is Iris domestica (L.) Goldblatt & Mabb.
