Limanda limanda limanda (Linnaeus 1758

Authors: Artüz, M. Levent; Fricke, Ronald;

Limanda limanda limanda (Linnaeus 1758

Abstract

5. Limanda limanda (Linnaeus, 1758) In the text of (Artüz & Fricke 2019 P: 547) the subject is explained with the following paragraph, which is repeated below to avoid any misunderstanding; “ Deveciyan (1915) noticed that the distribution area of Limanda limanda (as Pleuronectes limanda) included the Black Sea and Sea of Marmara. Since this record cannot be currently confirmed, it is possible that it was based on misidentified Platichthys flesus, although he also reported P. flesus (as Pleuronectes flessus) in the same publication as a separate species. Therefore, we include L. limanda in the checklist with some reservation.”
