Abstract

Salvatore Costanza, tra il 2017 e il 2019, è stato membro del progetto ERC Locus Ludi. The Cultural Fabric of Play and Games in Classical Antiquity (Grant agreement 741520), sotto la direzione della Professoressa Véronique Dasen, Université de Fribourg (CH). Si è occupato, nello specifico, di analizzare le pratiche ludiche presenti nell'Onomasticon di Giulio Polluce. Il gioco è un’esperienza basilare per l’individuo ed è connotato da profondi significati religiosi, sociali e identitari. Per l’Antichità greco-romana l’Onomasticon, il dizionario tematico di Giulio Polluce di Naucrati (II metà II sec. d.C.), restituisce diversi excerpta inerenti alla cultura ludica e alle sue pratiche attestate dalle fonti letterarie, consentendo d’intendere meglio la varietà di regole, espressioni, manifestazioni connesse ad un fenomeno complesso. Questo lessico improntato all’ideale di un atticismo moderato rivolto all’acquisizione della padronanza nell’usus verborum traccia, quindi, percorsi di notevole attrattiva, per i quali è interessante seguire la ricezione negli autori tardi e bizantini. Infine, s’impone la continuità nella Grecia moderna delle forme ereditate dal passato e diversamente rimodulate al fine di delineare una parabola dell’homo ludens dall’età omerica fino alla contemporaneità.
