Abstract

Abstract: The concern about the development of Latin America and the so-called "Third World" was an essential topic, which began to take shape in the 1950. It was accompanied by a renewed interest in “agrarian reform”, as a way to solve the problems of rural development. Intellectuals, corporate associations and political parties of various kinds, developed their own diagnoses. The historiographic study of these diagnoses has been limited to parties, intellectuals and corporations linked to the ruling class. An important actor was relegated, particularly in the 1970, who outlined his own diagnoses on the Argentine agrarian question and, with greater emphasis, on agrarian reform: the left. In order to begin to investigate this field still unexplored, in the present article we propose to reconstruct the diagnosis of the Communist Party of Argentina on agriculture, to focus in particular on its proposal for agrarian reform. We are interested in being able to evaluate to what extent this organization, which postulated itself as an option opposed to the parties of the ruling class or called “traditional”, offered an image of the Argentine countryside and the tools necessary for its transformation, which distanced itself from that those made.
