Flora and Vegetation of Magadan region (Checklist of Vascular Plants and Outline of Vegetation)

Abstract

This edition for the first time represents revised survey on taxonomical composition, typical habitats and distribution of vascular plants of Magadan region. Annotated checklist of flora consisting of three parts: checklist of woody aboriginal plants, aboriginal herbaceous plants and adventive plants is forestalled by the outline of vegetation and map of vegetation of Magadan region. Annotated checklist includes 1441 species and subspecies, and also 16 nothospecies from 421 genera and 4 nothogenera of 97 families. The woody aboriginal plants comprise 128 species, 51 genera, 19 families; aboriginal herbaceous plants – 1040 species and subspecies, and also 15 nothospecies, 282 genera and 4 nothogenera, 79 families; adventive plants (including 22 pseudoaboriginal ones) – 295 species and subspecies, 1 nothospecies from 165 genera and 36 families. Data on flora composition and distribution are added considerably. 155 species (40 aboriginal and 115 adventive ones) are new records for Magadan region in comparison with earlier floristic reviews. Among them 64 findings (16 aboriginal and 48 adventive ones) were not published before. 4 nothospecies are described as a new for science. 109 species are illustrated by line original drawings. This book is designated for botanists of different specialties, officers of plant quarantine services, environmental specialists, biology teachers, students of biological faculties and wilderness amateurs.
