Transition towards Circular Bioeconomy – Integrative Planning Concepts in City and Landscape Planning

Abstract

The presentation was part of the webinar "Low Carbon Construction – From Urban Planning to Building Design", which was looking into planning concepts for using wood for urban sustainability. A joint presentation by Prof Dr Pekka Leskinen and Dr Rik De Vreese focussed on (1) emission reduction through subsituting concrete and steel with wood; (2) implementing urban forests/urban trees as nature-based solutions for reducing carbon emissions; and (3) integrative planning concepts to achieve (1) and (2).
