Abstract

The association Vinco herbacei-Stipetum ucrainicae Pînzaru ass. nova has been identified in 13 relevés made in 2003-2019 on rocky slopes in the Dniester River basin, Republic of Moldova. It consists of xerophilous, west-Sarmatian plant communities, occurring on rendzina soil or carbonate-rich chernozems, at altitudes of 80-247 m. Characteristic species of the association – Stipa ucrainica P.A.Smirn. and Vinca herbacea Waldst. & Kit. Constant species: Potentilla arenaria, Seseli tortuosum, Teucrium chamaedrys, Teucrium capitatum, Thymus pannonicus var. marschallianus, Odontarrhena muralis, Iris pumila, Euphorbia stepposa. The association Vinco herbacei-Stipetum ucrainicae, according to the floristic composition and the characteristics of the habitat, it is part of the alliance Stipion lessingianae Soó 1947, order Festucetalia valesiacae Soó 1947, class FESTUCO-BROMETEA Br.-Bl. et Tx. ex Soó 1947.
