Abstract Physical Education has a long tradition in the Norwegian Educational system, which is based on different rationales and arguments for legitimation. After a brief historical description and a status presentation the focus will be leaded the main three perspectives, which are emphasized through the actual curriculum. The explanation and discussion of these perspectives is summarized with some comments about new perspectives in the physical Education teacher training.
