The number of mutations between haplotypes is indicated by perpendicular lines on the branches and is specified if greater than 10. The size of the circles is proportional to the number of individuals sharing a certain haplotype with colours assigned by subspecies. The sample locations are indicated by triangles in the map and highlighted in bold capital letters for museum specimens. The subspecies marked with an asterisk represent formerly recognized subspecies, which were synonymized in recent classifications (e.g., Shorrocks 2016). Historical key specimens are highlighted by the respective abbreviation of the museum and the catalogue number.
