The purpose of the article is the successful personality’s reading competence formation as a paradigm under the conditions of the media environment convergence and the impact of Internet technologies on the mind of a child. Methodology. The problem under study has been considered in the context of the development of the world critical thinking, which reacts to the issue with concern, emphasizing the rapid decline of readability. Such theoretical (analysis, synthesis, generalization) and empirical (observations, conversations with students, students and teachers) methods have been used in the study. The scientific novelty of the research. The changed models of the traditional reading have been identified, the major trends that are characteristic for modern children have been outlined and highlighted in the article. It has been noted that during the world quarantine, there was a complete convergence of the media environment. It has been grounded that against this background, it is important to maintain the capacity for the linear, paper-based information that requires effort and attention for processing, and visual dependence leads to simplification and coarseness of speech. The methods and techniques that influence the personality and creative component of the reading competence have also been considered and characterized. Conclusions. The importance of the reading competence formation is realized not only by scientists and teachers. The problem is still manifested at the governmental level. And this happens where the future of the nation and the state is predicted, where there is the responsibility for the future, the programs are created and financed that study new ways, forms and practices of reading, the tools to engage in reading under the conditions of a modern man’s changed consciousness under the pressure of the informational Internet-dump. Therefore, the development of reading competence is the way to the future, respectively – successful, if the teacher consciously develops the creative component, motivating and engaging, proving the importance of reading first to parents and then to children.
