This article reviews the theoretical aspects of competitive intelligence and its role in the information security of the enterprise. The basic directions, tasks and stages of competitive intelligence of the company are established. The necessity of creation of competitive intelligence unit as a structural element of providing economic security at the enterprise is analyzed. The approaches to the classification of competitive intelligence methods, types and sources of intelligence provision are generalized.
