RealSense1 is a pilot-project aiming to develop a new generation of low-cost sensors for monitoring of advanced cell culture parameters: biomass concentration – key variable in cell cultures and nutrients/metabolites: glucose, glutamine, peroxide, lactate and ammonia. Sensors can potentially be used for media recycling (in combination with filtering). RealSense1 implements a scale- down approach focusing on microfluidic cell culture - microbioreactors (Lab on a Chip-LOC). On September 5th, Dr Ivana Gadjanski, coordinator of the RealSense1 project, held poster presentation at The Good Food Conference in San Francisco, USA, where she presents preliminary results for impedimetric biomass sensor in microbioreactor and initial enzyme immobilization.
This work was funded in the framework of project REALSENSE1: Monitoring of cell culture parameters using sensors for biomass and nutrients/metabolites in media: Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) approach, Good Food Institute 2018 Competitive Grant Program.
