The National Library of Scotland launched its Digital Scholarship Service and Data Foundry (the Library’s data-delivery platform) in September 2019. This talk covers work to date establishing the Service; the cross-Library activity involved in producing the Data Foundry; processes involved in making collections available as data and in implementing workflow change; and the future direction of the Service. Making collections available as data, presenting them online and encourage broad use involves challenges around ethics, transparency, culture and internal decision-making processes, and this talk discusses how the new Digital Scholarship Service is changing the way the Library works to enable new uses of the collections.
