تاریخ چشم‌پزشکی مسلمانان تا قرن پنجم هجری

Abstract

پزشکان مسلمان در مسیر شناخت و درمان بیماری‌های چشم همت فراوان گماشتند. آنان در گام اول به مطالعه، بررسی و ترجمه کتب و مقالات چشم‌پزشکی متعلق به تمدن‌های دیگر نظیر یونانی، سریانی، هندی، ایرانی و غیره پرداختند؛ ولی تلاش ایشان به مطالعه و ترجمه کشفیات گذشتگانی چون جالینوس، بقراط و دیگر پزشکان تمدن‌های روزگار خود محدود نشد. آن‌ها در گام بعدی با نگارش مقالات و کتب فراوان، به علم چشم‌پزشکی خدمات شایان ‌توجهی کردند. در نخستین سده‌های پس از ظهور اسلام، چشم‌پزشکان تمدن نوپای اسلامی-در دو بُعد نظری و عملی-تحولاتی را رقم زدند که تا قرن‌ها در مرکز توجه چشم‌پزشکان عالم قرار گرفت. در این دوره به‌لحاظ نظری، نظریه‌های نوینی درزمینه فیزیولوژی و آناتومی چشم و همچنین اصلاح عیوب بینایی با استفاده از علم فیزیک نور بیان شد؛ در بُعد عملی نیز ابتکارات درخور توجهی درزمینه درمان‌های دارویی و اعمال جراحی پا به عرصه علم چشم‌پزشکی گذارد
