Abstract

This paper presents results of the research carried out in 2015-2019. The material has been collected in two groups of localities, i.e.: the urban areas of Bielsko-Biała and its surroundings, and the non-urbanized areas in various parts of Western Beskidy Mts. Altogether, 217 species representing 27 families were recorded including 11 species new to the region: Brachycarenus tigrinus (Schilling, 1829), Charagochilus spiralifer Kerzhner, 1988, Chilacis typhae (Perris, 1857), Coptosoma scutellatum (Geoffroy, 1785), Dicyphus epilobii Reuter, 1883, Nabis lineatus Dahlbom, 1851, Polymerus palustris (Reuter, 1907), Rhyparochromus vulgaris (Schilling, 1829), Sphragisticus nebulosus (Fallén, 1807), Taphropeltus contractus (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1835), and Tingis ampliata (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1838). Furthermore, it is noteworthy that 165 species have been found in Bielsko-Biała and its surroundings, whereas 168 species were recorded in other locations. The species composition of both location groups differed significantly, but only 118 species were found in both examined groups. Moreover, the paper presents a history of faunistic studies in Western Beskidy Mts and provides the actual list of species recorded from this region. In addition, the impact of habitat fragmentation on species biodiversity was also dicsussed.
