Una nueva técnica estadística permite medir el grado o nivel de desarrollo urbano a través del registro funerario. Constituye otro firme paso de la arqueología de los fenómenos sociales a la hora de inferir la evolución temporal de los parámetros que explican el comportamiento de las sociedades antiguas. Como en otros casos, se aporta la evidencia material de la Mesoamérica prehispánica para contrastar y validar empíricamente sus resultados. ENGLISH: Measuring the Degree of Urban Development through the Mortuary Record. A new statistical method allows one to measure the degree or level of urban development through the mortuary record. It is another firm step in the archaeology of social phenomena when inferring the parameters that explain the behavior of ancient societies. As in other cases, the material evidence from pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica is provided to empirically compare and validate its results.
