Abstract

Objective: Validate the FEDPALLA-II scale and evaluate its applicability in the assessment and prognosis of perilesional skin in ulcers and wounds. Methodology: Psychometric study of validation of scales. Modification and adaptation of items on the Fedpalla scale to develop a new version called “Fedpalla-II”. Observational evaluation of applicability in a predetermined sample of 118 patients with ulcers and wounds. Results: The Fedpalla II Scale, in comparison with the previous version, presents a change of denomination in one of its items (“dermatitis” is changed to “schematization”) and the assessment of four parameters that refer to the hydration, vasculature, edges and deposits on the skin. The internal consistency obtained was 0.78 with an explained variance of 75%. Its applicability was evaluated in 236 pressure ulcers and surrounding skin, obtaining more descriptive values and scores. Conclusions: The psychometric results and evaluation of the applicability of the Fedpalla-II Scale allows, in comparison with the previous one, to obtain greater reliability and validity at the time of its use in clinical practice, in reference to the prognosis and assessment of the skin perilesional ulcers and wounds.
