Morocco, due to its structural, climatic, bioclimatic and biogeographical diversity, remains a fertile field for floristic and faunistic prospecting, paving the way for the discovery of new species, both paleo and neo-endemic, particularly in mountainous and Saharan regions. Thus, during prospections in certain valleys of southern Morocco, a group of Bituminaria was discovered; both the clearly chasmophitic ecology of the taxon and its morphological, vegetative and reproductive characters favor a typical Moroccan species quite different from Bitumminariabituminosa(L) stirton. Also, the provisional name of Bituminaria of Todgha (Bituminariatodghaniensis) was adopted.
