INTRODUCTION: Objective: of this work was to evaluate the changes on the lipidic and glicemic profile in adolescents with overweigh and obesity compared to eutrofic group. METHODS: The criterion for the diagnose was the body mass index <BMI/age> suggested by Cole et al., <2000>. The association between waist circumference. The first part of the study 769 students were evaluated and from wich were selected 133 adolescents, aged 12 to 18 years old, of both sex, distributed in eutrofic <n=52>, overweight <n=52> and obese <n=29>. In these groups were measured lipoproteins, glucose, body mass index, triceps and subscapular skinfold waist circumference. RESULTS: Showed that overweigh and obesity leads to an increase in blood levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerids and a decrease in HDL cholesterol levels. Glucose level increased only in the femmale group. The waist circumference, a visceral fat indicator, was also associated with an abnormal lipid profile but not with increase in glucose level. CONCLUSION: This work emphasyses the needs to inget public health measures to control overweigh and obesity among adolescentes.
