Abstract

Zusammenfassung: Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags ist es, das kürzlich gestartete interdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekt „Kategorisierung emotionaler Information in Wörtern und Gesichtern im Laufe der kindlichen Entwicklung“ vorzustellen. Zunächst wird in einem Forschungsüberblick dargestellt, wann und wie Kinder lernen, Sprache und Gesichtsausdrücke als Mittel zum Ausdruck von Gefühlsregungen zu verstehen und welche Probleme dabei bei Kindern mit umschriebener Sprachentwicklungsstörung (USES) auftreten können. Daran anknüpfend wird eine Studienreihe beschrieben, in der die uni- und multimodale Verarbeitung auditiv und visuell präsentierter emotionaler Information im Kindesalter untersucht wird. Mit zwei experimentellen Aufgaben (Lexikalisches Entscheiden und Emotionales Kategorisieren) wird überprüft, wie Kinder im Alter von sechs, neun und zwölf Jahren mit emotionaler Information in Emotionsbegriffen und Gesichtsausdrücken umgehen. Der Fokus der Studie liegt auf der Untersuchung alters- und störungsbedingter Unterschiede in der Verarbeitung emotionaler Inhalte. Von besonderem Interesse ist es, zu untersuchen, ob Kinder mit umschriebener Sprachentwicklungsstörung unterschiedlich große Einschränkungen bei der Verarbeitung nonverbaler und verbaler emotionaler Information zeigen. Der klinische Teil des Forschungsprojekts bietet damit die Möglichkeit, das Konstrukt der USES, d. h. einer umschriebenen, auf rein sprachliche Auffälligkeiten beschränkten Störung, empirisch zu überprüfen.
