Abstract

FIGURE 3. Sexual dimorphism in Hylopanchax; left: male (top) and female (bottom) of H. sp. Cameroon, ZSM 30175, Djalumbe; right: male (top) and female (bottom) of H. silvestris, ZSM 39300, Amba River. Notice the differences in anal fin shape, black male urogenital papilla and large female urogenital papilla. A diagnostic character of the genus is the narrow dark band at the base of the anal fin.
