Abstract

At the present research work we analyze architectural pieces from ancient Jesuit reductions, specially from Nuestra Señora de la Concepcion´s reduction, in the province of Misiones. Those pieces are part of an archaeological materiality that resulted from meetings between Jesuit missionaries and guarani original people. From an interdisciplinary perspective, it attempts to analyze a set of pieces, from history and art, and in the context of an archaeological research work, starting to define them as their own artistic manifestations of an American-European admixture. To assess the artistic manifestations that took place in this Guarani-jesuit period, we analyze the following pieces: Pilaster; Two capiteles; Portico with monolithic lintel; A base structure column; column. In this way, we will describe them, using these reference materials, to observe the differences between materials that are possibly in situ and those that are located in museums, devoid of their original context.
