
Similar to Data Management Plans, Software Management Plans (SMPs) help researchers to manage their software based on good practices and the FAIR for Research Software principles. To do so, SMPs comprise a series of questions, including information about the software itself. A variety of SMPs exist, requiring a comparative analysis to establish a unified, up-to-date framework, tailored to the German National Research Data Infrastructures (NFDI) consortia. Following an initial comparison of current SMPs, a hackthon was held at ZB MED, focusing on harmonisation across the different SMPs, aligned to NFDI and RDMO needs. Here we present the results of this hackathon organised within the framework of the NFDI Base project DMP4NFDI.
