Presentation give in the Centre for Digital Scholarship annual summer training week workshop on research instrument identification process start in the Leiden University. This presentation includes basic information on PIDs, their nature, and their uses, and then builds the case for using them for scientific instruments. Presentation then goes to describe current methodologies using PIDINST metadata, and B2INST service provided by EUDAT, and finally discusses the processes needed in the Leiden University to build this kind of system in practice.
