
Founded by the interreg alpine space programme MOSAIC, the protective forest mini-model is a simplified experimental device designed to illustrate the mechanical and dissipative role of forest stands in mitigating rockfall hazards. It allows visualization of the influence of forest density, structure, and continuity on rockfall runout distance, velocity reduction, and trajectory deviation. The model serves as a demonstration and communication tool addressing forest management challenges in a context of climate change and increasing extreme events. This tool can be used with or without obstacle simulating trees.
