Abstract

Der vorliegende Teilbericht der Studie Digital Skills Austria IV analysiert die Resilienz der österreichischen Bevölkerung gegenüber Desinformation und Falschinformation auf Basis einer Online-Befragung (n=2.307, strukturgleich mit der österreichischen Onlinebevölkerung). Im Zentrum steht die Frage, wie gut Bürger:innen falsche von korrekten Informationen unterscheiden können und welche Faktoren diese Fähigkeit beeinflussen. Insgesamt zeigt die Studie: Die Fähigkeit, Desinformation zu erkennen, ist weniger eine Frage individueller Eigenschaften als vielmehr ein Zusammenspiel aus Kompetenzen, Vertrauen und Informationsumgebung. Entsprechend müssen politische Maßnahmen auf diese Systemebene abzielen. This report gives insight into the Digital Skills Austria IV, which was conducted in 2025 and 2026. Key of this report is the analysis concerning the resilience of the Austrian population to disinformation and misinformation based on an online survey (n=2,307, representative of the Austrian online population). The focus is on how well citizens can distinguish false information from accurate information and which factors influence this ability. Overall, the study shows that the ability to recognize disinformation is less a matter of individual characteristics and more a combination of skills, trust, and the information environment.
