
This study investigates the functional role and translation strategies of proverbs in the novel Navoiy by Oybek. Employing a qualitative textual analysis, the research examines how proverbs operate as linguistic, cultural, and cognitive units within the narrative and how they are rendered into English. The study identifies four principal translation strategie sand evaluates their effectiveness in preserving semantic, stylistic, and cultural meaning. The findings indicate that proverbs in the novel constitute a key mechanism for encoding national worldview and require context-sensitive translation approaches grounded in functional equivalence.
