Abstract

Die deutschen Verlustlisten des Ersten Weltkrieges sind offizielle personenbezogene Mitteilungen der preußischen Regierung aus den Jahren 1914 bis 1919 über die Verluste der gesamten Streitkräfte des Deutschen Kaiserreichs (Kontingentsheer: Armeen von Preußen, Bayern, Württemberg und Sachsen; Kaiserliche Marine sowie Kaiserliche Schutztruppe). Sie erschienen als Anhang zum Armee-Verordnungsblatt und wurden außerdem im Deutschen Reichsanzeiger sowie im Preußischen Staatsanzeiger veröffentlicht. In einem großen Crowdsourcing-Projekt des Vereins für Computergenealogie e.V. unter Nutzung des Dateneingabesystems (DES) wurden die Verlustlisten des Ersten Weltkrieges in der Zeit von November 2011 bis August 2014 von mehreren hundert ehrenamtlichen Datenerfassern vollständig indiziert. Über 8,5 Millionen Datensätze wurden auf diese Weise erschlossen und für die Personengeschichtsforschung nutzbar gemacht. Es findet laufend eine Fehlerbereinigung statt. Die hier veröffentlichten Daten haben den Stand vom 14. Oktober 2025.
