Etnografía del Miedo: La Figura del Duende como Advertencia, Control Social y Regulación Territorial en la Narrativa Oral Ecuatoriana

Abstract

Este artículo examina la figura del duende en la narrativa oral ecuatoriana como un dispositivo simbólico de advertencia, regulación conductual y control social, transmitido intergeneracionalmente a través de relatos familiares y comunitarios. Desde un enfoque etnográfico y comparativo, el estudio analiza variantes regionales en la Costa, la Sierra, la Amazonía y Galápagos, identificando patrones comunes de transgresión, castigo y aprendizaje moral. El trabajo distingue entre tradición oral documentada, reinterpretaciones contemporáneas y usos turísticos del imaginario del duende, evitando la validación de creencias literales y enfocándose en su función cultural, pedagógica y territorial. Este estudio se presenta como una aplicación territorial de marcos teóricos desarrollados previamente para el análisis crítico de figuras simbólicas.
