
A study into the potential of interactive sound design within a theatre setting was carried out by means of a workshop. Sound design participants and actors collaborated to create sounds for scenes using Foley, samples and procedural audio. Networked sound devices were also introduced as novel means to control the sounds. Results indicate that participants gained new insights into sound design for theatre, valuing the playful and collaborative structure of the workshop. The use of actor-controlled devices was introduced by means of interactive with a prop. The use of these devices in future live performances was discussed and theimportance of early adoption, partnership with other areas of production and a reliable system were highlighted.
