The Circle U. Language Compass is a framework developed within the Circle U. European University Alliance to promote inclusion, diversity, and knowledge building through languages. Conceived as a compass rather than a prescriptive policy, it guides universities, teachers, researchers, governance bodies, and communication teams in reflecting on and enhancing plurilingual and intercultural practices. Structured around four key directions (teaching and learning, research, communication, and governance) the Compass combines conceptual insights, practical toolkits, and reflection prompts to inspire action. It encourages context-sensitive, flexible, and technologically informed engagement with multilingualism and interculturality across higher education.
