Ampeliscidae from the Brazilian coast. Record of Ampelisca burkey Barnard & Thomas, 1989 and descriptions of two new species of Ampelisca (Crustacea, Amphipoda)

Abstract

This study comprises the descripition of two new species of Ampelisca Costa, 1857, from Brazilian coast. Ampelisca flabellicaudata sp. nov. is characterized by head with antero-ventral and anterodorsal margins parallel, pereopod 7 carpus and propodus stout, subequal in length, urosomite 1 produced and pointed dorsally and uropod 3 with outer ramus rounded apically. Ampelisca moreirai sp. nov. is characterized by head with antero-ventral margin oblique, pereopod 7 merus posterodistal lobe enlarged to propodus, urosomite 1 dorsally produced into a sharpened upturned carina and uropod 3 lanceolate. Another species, Ampelisca burkey Barnard & Thomas, 1989 is herein first recorded from the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean.
