Data privacy is a fundamental right in the digital age. In Bangladesh, with over 50 million social media users, personal information is increasingly exposed to cyber threats, unauthorized surveillance, and exploitation. This paper explores the moral and practical implications of legalizing data privacy in Bangladesh, presenting arguments for and against, examining ethical principles, and analyzing recent incidents and legislative developments. The study concludes that the legalization of data privacy is both morally justified and essential for securing citizens’ rights, safety, and dignity in the digital era.
