A dataset containing spatial and attribute data for educational facilities in Nicosia (pre-primary, primary, secondary, and technical schools) Zone extent: The extents of the dataset refer to Nicosia, Cyprus Educational Facilities: The data for all educational institutions was adopted from the official governmental websites[1], where lists containing different educational facilities are available in PDF format. The list contained data named: Name, type, postcode, address, location, and email. There are separate PDF files for each district and each type of ownership. Data Preparation: We processed these PDF files further to obtain coordinates based on addresses and postcodes. We convert all PDF files to Excel files to ease adding more fields and combining data in one main file. Then, using Python in Jupyter Notebooks, we obtained the coordinates for each address (Longitude and Latitude) using an API key from OpenStreetMap. However, a manual review of all the points was needed as some addresses provided initially on the PDF were not accurate or were not written appropriately. So, some points were edited manually and directly in QGIS to their accurate addresses. Schema School name String School type String Postcode String Address String Email String Ownership String Edu.
