Abstract

Ordre ACCIPITRIFORMES Vieillot, 1816 REMARQUES Sur le site « Les Pavés » (Tavers), deux phalanges unguéales d’un accipitridé, une complète (Fig. 25A) et une cassée (Fig. 25B), se rapprochent par leur forme de celles de Mauvières (Gagnaison et al. 2023) et Contres (Augé et al. 2002). La longueur du spécimen conservé au MHNO est très proche de la longueur de la phalange de Mauvières (respectivement 28,8 mm et 30,2 mm). Ces dernières sont toutes deux plus petites que la phalange de Contres (Longueur = 40,3 mm). Le processus flexorius comprimé médio-latéralement et allongé proximo-distalement permet d’attribuer les deux spécimens de notre étude au genre Aquilavus Lambrecht, 1933, comme ceux de Mauvières et Contres. Ce genre est connu en France depuis l’Éocène par A. hypogaeus (Milne-Edwards, 1892) (Mourer-Chauviré 2006). À l’Agénien (MN 2), les espèces A. depredator (Milne-Edwards, 1871) et A. priscus (Milne-Edwards, 1863) sont connues dans les dépôts de St-Gérand-le-Puy (Mather 2021). Le genre Aquilavus se retrouve ensuite dans les sables continentaux du site de Mauvières (MN 3; Gagnaison et al. 2023) et dans les faluns de Contres (qui contiennent des faunes remaniées de l’Orléanien (MN 3 à MN 5; Augé et al. 2002)). Plusieurs diaphyses d’os longs et creux ont été vues dans les différentes collections (Annexe 1). Malheureusement ces spécimens sont indéterminables et classés en Aves indet. (non Accipitridae Vigors, 1824), mais ils témoignent d’une avifaune sans doute riche et diversifiée.
