Literaturgeschichte "under construction" – was können die Computational Literary Studies beitragen? Ein Panel zur digitalen Untersuchung von Raum in der Literatur

Abstract

Im Forschungsdesign vieler DH-Projekte aus den Computational Literary Studies (CLS) stehen die Operationalisierung eines literarischen Phänomens, die Datenmodellierung und die Implementierung sowie das Finetuning computationeller Verfahren meist deutlicher im Fokus als explizite Überlegungen zum literaturgeschichtlichen Kontext, und dies, obwohl die CLS durch ihre quantitative Arbeitsweise und die Verwendung umfangreicher Korpora prädestiniert dafür sind, auch historische Entwicklungen zu untersuchen. Das Panel zielt darauf, dieses Problem anhand des Themas "Raum in literarischen Texten" und mit Beiträgen von Literaturhistoriker:innen, Literaturtheoretiker:innen und Computational Literarians zu diskutieren. Es plädiert für einen stärkeren Einbezug bestehender literaturgeschichtlicher Forschung in die CLS-Forschung und fragt zugleich danach, was diese für eine Literaturgeschichte "under construction" leisten kann.
