D2.3 – Innovative Teaching Concept on Standardisation – Use Guide for Standardisation Education

Abstract

The deliverable is currently pending approval. Please note that the document has not yet been revised or approved by the Granting Authority. Therefore, any information contained within this document is subject to change and should not be considered final until formal approval is granted. This document explains the Innovative Teaching Concept of Standardisation (ITCoS), outlining the features defined in the project proposal for EDU4standards.eu and the General Agreement associated with it. The ITCoS aims to integrate standardisation more comprehensively into the curricula of higher education institutions (HEIs) across Europe. Its purpose is to equip the next generation of professionals with a deep understanding of standardisation, enabling them to contribute effectively to global market dynamics through informed standardisation practices. The ITCoS serves as the foundation for further pilot development, covering courses for bachelor's and master's programs, in-company training, and extra curricular formats. The primary target groups for the ITCoS are educators at HEIs (bachelor’s and master’s levels), vocational school teachers, trainers and educators at National Standardisation Bodies (NSBs), and other organizations that aim to provide high-quality education and training in standardisation. The indirect target group consists of students at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. The ITCoS is a multidimensional approach designed to effectively guide the development of new educational curricula (or parts of them) and content while benchmarking existing ones. It aims to support versatile, attractive, and high-quality standardisation education, establishing itself as the most comprehensive and effective approach in this field. The ITCoS is structured around four Knowledge Areas (KA): KA1: Basic Knowledge of Standardisation Needed to Raise Awareness KA2: Standardisation Interdependencies with other areas and Roles in Specific Contexts KA3: Strategic Use of Standards KA4: Strategic Participation in Standards Development Standardisation is a practical and dynamic discipline. Without practical application, the ITCoS would remain merely a theoretical concept. To ensure its implementation, the ITCoS will serve as the foundation for developing the EDU4standards.eu Teachers’ Support Tool, a web-based platform. This platform will enable continuous improvement of the ITCoS and facilitate the sharing of ideas and content more broadly.
