Community engagement can be defined as empowering citizens to meet their needs in effective manner. This has been identified as a significant factor to build local trust. In this manner, satisfaction is improved and authorities get better understanding of the community needs and views of local communities. Academic libraries in Sri Lanka have been identified the importance of community engagement and conducts outreach activities to serve the academic community in scholarly way. In this context, it is proved that academic libraries are meeting place for the scholarly community. In other words, it is a place where scholars can meet and share their knowledge among each other. Thus, academic libraries are making a platform for the academic community engagement.
