В статье, на основе архивных документов Института археологии Крыма РАН, анализируется проект создания Института археологии и истории при Крымском филиале Академии наук СССР, который должен был быть основан на базе Cектора истории и археологии, возглавляемого П.Н. Шульцем. Показаны цели и задачи Института археологии и истории и его место в развитии исторических и археологических исследований в Крыму, а также перспективная структура Крымского филиала Академии наук СССР. Автор приходит к выводу, что если бы проект создания Института археологии и истории Крымского филиала АН СССР был реализован, то он стал бы центром исследований по истории и археологии Крыма и смог бы объединить усилия ученых, занимающихся данной проблематикой. The article, based on archival documents of the Institute of Archeology of Crimea of the Russian Academy of Sciences, deals with the idea of creating the Institute of Archeology and History at the Crimean branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The Institute was to be based on the Sector of History and Archeology headed by P.N. Schultz. The article discusses aims and tasks of the Institute of Archeology and History and its place in the development of historical and archaeological research in the Crimea and the promising structure of the Crimean branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The author concludes that if the project had been implemented, the Institute of Archeology and History of the Crimean branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences could have integrated the efforts of researchers involved into the problem.
