The article discloses the stages of the construction of the first enterprise of the atomic industry in the USSR in 1945-1948 - the nuclear reactor of the enterprise № 817. The issues of the construction organization of the unique industrial object are examined, the methods used to stimulate the work of the Gulag prisoners, military builders and the settlers in the extreme conditions are shown.
