Inhabits sparse deciduous forests, gardens and parks. Caterpillars are found on tree trunks, wooden walls and fences; they feed on moss and lichen. Adults occur from March to May. Distribution in Russia. Recorded from the European Northeastern, South Taiga, Central Chernozem, Middle Volga, and South Ural Regions (Sinev & Lovtsova 2008). In the Volga Region, it is known from Ulyanovsk, Samara, and Saratov Oblasts and the Republic of Tatarstan (Anikin et al. 2017).
