Phenicx-Emotion

Abstract

This dataset includes 15 excerpts of the Eroica (Symphony No. 3, Beethoven), played by Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and recorded in the context of the PHENICX EU project, and audio descriptors from the excerpts obtained using the Essentia library. This material has been used for studying the interrelation between listener characteristics and the perception of emotion in classical music. Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has given their explicit approval for this dataset to be made public. Using this dataset When PHENICX-emotion is used for academic research, we would appreciate if you cite the following publication: Markus Schedl, Emilia Gómez, Erika S. Trent, Marko Tkalcic, Hamid Eghbal Zadeh and Agustín Martorell, On the Interrelation between Listener Characteristics and the Perception of Emotion in Classical Orchestra Music, IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, accepted for publication. https://doi.org/10.1109/TAFFC.2017.2663421 We are interested in knowing if you find our datasets useful! If you use our dataset please email us at mtg-info@upf.edu and tell us about your research. https://www.upf.edu/web/mtg/phenicx-emotion
