Abstract

The results of the study of the rove beetles (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae) of an old Quercus faginea oak forest, placed in the northern Sistema Ibérico mountain range (Spain) are presented. A total of 654 individuals were studied and 58 species were identified, being 24 of them first records for La Rioja. Besides, Thamiaraea hospita (Märkel, 1845) and Coprophilus striatulus (Fabricius, 1792) are reported for the second time for the Iberian fauna. The species accumulation curve and the richness estimators show that the sampling effort was not enough for reaching an acceptable inventory. The chorological analysis shows a pattern similar to that found for this family in other forests in northern Spain, prevailing the Western Palaearctic and European chorotypes.
