
This presentation was held at the 15th International LANDNET Workshop which took place from 5 to 7 June 2024 in Middelburg (The Netherlands). The workshop was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, in partnership with Kadaster and the Province of Zeeland. The objectives of this LANDNET workshop were: Commemorate 100 years of land consolidation in Europe; Learn from land consolidation experiences in the Netherlands; and present and discuss how multi-purpose land consolidation can support the implementation of public projects related to climate change adaptation and mitigation, nature restoration, improving biodiversity and environmental conditions. From the Land Lab (LaboraTe), Quico Ónega made a short review of how land consolidation has been implemented in Spain since its inception back in 1952. Besides, his presentation paid special attention to the evolution of land development instruments in Galicia, from the first land consolidation projects to the new instruments put in place by the Law for the Recovery of Agricultural Land in Galicia.
