Abstract

Parasyntrophus gitgitus (Heller), comb. n. Idiopsis gitgita Heller, 1914: 306. Type locality: N-Bali, Gitgit. Idiopsodes gitgitus (Heller) Description. Lectotype (Fig. 26a). Length. Pronotum plus elytron 3.92 mm. Integument covered with appressed scales, with spots of lighter and darker grey. Head with curved, transverse sulcus separating rostral base; vertex with radial furrows, covered by scales. Rostrum 1.20 X longer than wide, sides subparallel; apical declivity with sunk-in scales, with interspersed erect scales, subapically subglabrous, with sparse setae. Antennal funicle with article 2 longer (1.2 X) than article 1. Pronotum as long as wide (1.09 X); coarsely punctate, squamose. Elytra 1.31 X as long as wide; dorsally convex; intervals with rows of long, erect, subclavate scales. Genitalia. Penis (Fig. 26b) with sides of body subparallel, subapically ventral portion abruptly widened, forming spatulate extension, rounded.Apodeme 3.00 X as long as body of penis. Transfer apparatus flagelliform, ca. 2 X as long as body of penis. Endophallus folded; with curved brownish portion containing cuticular microstructures. Intraspecific variation. Length. Pronotum plus elytron 3.92–4.38 mm. Material examined. Type specimens. Male, lectotype by present designation: INDONESIA, N-Bali, Gitgit, 1913, E. Stresemann; labels (Fig. 26c); condition: fair; genitalia in glycerol in microtube; DNA extraction ARC4023 (GenBank # OR557439) (SMTD). Paralectotypes: 3 exx, same data as lectotype. Notes. In the original description, no holotype is designated and the number of specimens at hand is not mentioned. Four syntypes were examined. A lectotype is designated to ensure stability of nomenclature in case additional syntypes belonging to other species are found.
