Conservation: CITES – Appendix III (India) as M. erminea ferghanae; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Discussion: Revised by Eger (1990). Reviewed by C. M. King (1983). Youngman (1982) and Abramov (1999) placed erminea in the subgenus Mustela. Synonyms allocated according to Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951), Hall (1951, 1981), and C. M. King (1983).
